Biddenham Tackle LIFE - 2021 - 2025
The problem:
The complex needs of young people are changing, since the pandemic and the cost of living crisis, these have evolved and significantly impacting on the mental wellbeing and resilience of the next generation.
At Biddenham International School, senior leadership identified young people unable to cope with mainstream classroom settings, considerably affecting their ability to engage and learn effectively.
The solution:
Biddenham International School have been accessing our Tackle LIFE programme since 2021 to support young people in year 10 through a series of workshops, educational visits and opportunities to be active to help build fundamental skills.
These students are identified as at serious risk of dropping out of the school system if there is no intervention. Across thirty weeks, our team have supported students in small group mentoring sessions to build confidence, leadership and teamwork to help them thrive in school.
Impact:
The activities have been instrumental in improving students’ focus, teamwork, and aspirations. Feedback from schools highlights the program’s effectiveness in reducing the risk of exclusion and fostering positive behavioural changes.
Students said:
One attendee highlighted improvements in personal growth and communication, stating, “I think the way I talk to people is much better; I now try to think before I speak.”
Another participant reflected on the supportive environment, saying, “The coaches allow us to problem solve on our own, and I feel if I really needed to, I could go to them with any problems I have.”
These experiences underline the positive influence the program continues to have on young people’s confidence, behaviour, and overall well-being.
