Living It Up visit Bedford Blues
Members of Living It Up, a local support group for adults living with disabilities, enjoyed a memorable afternoon on Saturday 6th December as they attended Bedford Blues v Cambridge clash at Goldington Road.
The visit marked a special celebration of the group’s ongoing partnership with the Blues Foundation, which has been delivering weekly multisport sessions throughout 2025.
The matchday experience was filled with excitement as participants, support workers, and Foundation staff came together to cheer on the Blues in what proved to be a thrilling derby encounter. For many in the group, it was their first time attending a live rugby match, creating a sense of anticipation that carried through the evening.
Living It Up has worked closely with the Blues Foundation for the past year, benefiting from tailored sessions designed to help adults with disabilities stay active, build confidence, and improve their overall wellbeing. The weekly programme has included a rotation of accessible sports, fitness activities, and team-based challenges, all aimed at supporting physical health while encouraging social connection.
Friday’s visit offered participants the chance not only to enjoy high-quality rugby but also to feel part of the wider Bedford sporting community. The group were welcomed warmly by club staff and supporters, with many stopping to chat and take photos with Foundation coaches. For the participants, the sense of inclusion and celebration was just as meaningful as the on-field action.
Blues Foundation’s Lilly Staniford, who leads our inclusive sport programmes, praised the group’s enthusiasm: “Living It Up bring so much positivity to every session. Seeing them experience the atmosphere here at Goldington Road is incredibly rewarding.”
As the final whistle blew, the smiles on the group’s faces said it all. The evening served as a proud moment for Living It Up and a reminder of the impact community sport can have—on health, happiness, and togetherness.
