VACANCY: Sports Development Degree Apprentice (Full Time)

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Sports Development Degree Apprentice!

Blues Foundation is excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate and driven young person to join our team as a Sports Development Degree Apprentice, starting in 2026.

This three-year, Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience within a fast-paced, community-focused charity, while studying towards a Sports Business Management Degree Apprenticeship.

A Unique Opportunity to Change Lives Through Sport

As the charitable arm of Bedford Blues Rugby Club, Blues Foundation uses the values of rugby, sport and physical activity to promote health, wellbeing and positive lifestyle choices across Bedford and the surrounding areas.

Our projects support a wide range of audiences and include:

  • Rugby curriculum delivery in primary and secondary schools

  • Afterschool and multisport clubs

  • Tackle LIFE intervention programmes

  • ABILITY Blues disability sport sessions

  • Holiday provision and community outreach initiatives

The successful apprentice will play a pivotal role in delivering and supporting these programmes, while also gaining experience across the wider operations of the charity.

About the Role

Reporting to the Education Manager, the Sports Development Degree Apprentice will:

  • Deliver high-quality sessions across school and community settings

  • Support curriculum programmes, camps and disability sport initiatives

  • Contribute to marketing and engagement activity

  • Help build relationships with schools, clubs and key stakeholders

  • Support matchday operations and community events

  • Contribute to business planning, fundraising and project development

  • Complete session planning, administration, monitoring and evaluation

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and health and safety

This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who is energetic, adaptable and committed to making a difference.

The Person We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience delivering sports or activity sessions

  • Be confident engaging young people, including those from challenging backgrounds

  • Be organised, reliable and proactive

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Hold a Level 2 coaching qualification (or equivalent)

  • Have GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) and a minimum of 112 UCAS points

  • Hold a full, clean driving licence

An enhanced DBS check will be required.
