Blues welcome Putnoe Beavers!

On Friday 20th February, Goldington Road welcomed an enthusiastic group from Putnoe Beavers for an inspiring pre‑match experience ahead of Bedford Blues’ home fixture against London Scottish. The visit offered the young Beavers an exciting opportunity to explore the club, take part in rugby‑based activities, and immerse themselves in the matchday atmosphere.

The evening began with a behind‑the‑scenes tour of the stadium, giving the group an exclusive look at areas usually reserved for players and staff. A highlight of the tour was a stop at the club’s trophy cabinet, where the Beavers learned more about the heritage and achievements that have shaped Bedford Blues’ story.

Following the tour, the Foundation team delivered a fun and engaging series of rugby activities. The Beavers threw themselves into games designed to build confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment, key values that sit at the heart of both rugby and Scouting. Their excitement and energy set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

This visit also reflects the strong national link between England Rugby and The Scouts, who are working together to help young people develop essential life skills through the power of rugby. The partnership promotes shared values such as teamwork, respect, and community, with new rugby‑inspired activities and opportunities available to Scout groups across the country.

As kick‑off approached, the Putnoe Beavers took their places as the Guard of Honour, lining the touchline to welcome both teams onto the pitch. Their cheers, flags, and infectious enthusiasm added to the electric pre‑match atmosphere, giving the players a memorable entrance.

It was a fantastic evening for everyone involved, showcasing the positive impact of rugby in the community. We look forward to welcoming Putnoe Beavers, and many more local groups, back to Goldington Road soon.
