Inclusive Sports Day Delivered for Bedford College Group

Students from across the Bedford College Group came together this week for an inclusive sports day designed to promote participation, accessibility and enjoyment in physical activity.

Held at Bedford International Athletics Stadium, the event was delivered by the Blues Foundation team and led by Lilly Staniford. The day welcomed over 100 students and staff from Foundation courses at Bedford College, Central Bedfordshire College and Tresham College.

Participants took part in a wide range of adapted sports and activities, including Goalball, seated volleyball, Boccia, dodgeball and handball. Each session was designed to ensure accessibility for all abilities, encouraging teamwork, confidence and active engagement.

The event forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to making sport inclusive and accessible within the local community. By creating opportunities for all young people to participate, the initiative supports both physical wellbeing and social development.

Staff highlighted the positive atmosphere throughout the day, with students embracing new challenges and supporting one another across activities. The inclusive approach ensured that everyone, regardless of ability or experience, could take part and enjoy the benefits of sport.

Beyond the activities themselves, the day also reinforced the Blues Foundation’s core values promoting respect, teamwork and community spirit. As the programme continues to grow, events like this play a key role in breaking down barriers and ensuring sport remains a space for everyone.

The success of the day underlines the importance of inclusive initiatives in education, helping young people build confidence, develop skills and feel part of a supportive community.
