Community rugby festival at the Champ Final

Goldington Road is preparing for a landmark occasion as the Elior Champ Rugby Final arrives in Bedford, bringing together elite competition and grassroots rugby in one unforgettable day.

Ahead of kick-off, Bedford Blues Foundation will lead a Festival of Rugby, welcoming 250 under-10 players from community clubs across the country. The event will celebrate participation, teamwork and the spirit of the game, placing the next generation at the heart of the Championship’s showpiece occasion.

On the pitch, Bedford Blues will host Worcester Warriors in a highly anticipated final on 31 May, after both sides came through dramatic semi-finals. Bedford secured their place in style, overturning a half-time deficit to beat Coventry 58–24 with a remarkable six-try second-half.

Worcester head to Goldington Road full of belief after a stunning 34–29 victory over previously unbeaten Ealing Trailfinders, sealed with a last-minute try to complete one of the shocks of the season.

The stage is now set for a thrilling finale, with a title on the line and a passionate home crowd expected to generate an electric atmosphere, building on the incredible scenes already witnessed during the play-offs.

As the Championship reaches its climax, the day represents more than just a final. By combining top-level rugby with a nationwide youth festival, the event will celebrate the full rugby pathway, from grassroots to elite performance.

With silverware at stake and young players leading the celebrations, Goldington Road is set to host a true festival of rugby.
